Summer fashion – many times it is so much easier than cold weather dressing. Don’t you agree? This little red shift from Black Label Dress is something I definitely would love to incorporate into my wardrobe for these next few months of hot sun and humidity. And did you see the back of the dress? Oh, lovely!
But moving to the city has definitely sparked a new attire issue for me that I did not experience in California: billowiness. (Is that a word? Yes, I think it is. Or at least it will be for my purposes here.) You see, now that I tromp up and down the subway stairwell each and every day, I run into the problem of billowy clothes. A short-ish skirt can go from demure to harlot in a butterfly blink if you catch a tunnel breeze as you head up the stairs. And as cute as my underwear normally is, I do not necessarily want to share that information with all of my traveling companions. We hardly know each other!
So does that mean I should revert to my grammar school habit of wearing shorts beneath all of my skirts so I can still participate in races across the parking lot at recess? Every morning I was all – Mom, where are my biker shorts? They were hers from the days of aerobics in the 80’s. They had a high sheen and were a vivid royal blue… and entirely too large. My solution? Roll the waistband way down and the hem up high beneath my skirt. No one knew that I was hiding a modesty diaper beneath my perfectly matched Osh Kosh. That is, until the races began and my skirts went a-flying.
Mom, do you still have my old shorts? I may need them for my new outfit.

I’ll look around…I’m sure I can find something for you to wear under:): )
Why, thank you – I would appreciate that.
Isn’t it an adorable dress?
